Letter to the Parish Priests on the Questionnaire for the XIV Ordinary Synod of Bishops on FAMILY

Dear Fr.,
The Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops, in preparation for the October 2015 XIV Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on The Family, has released a preparatory document along with a questionnaire, titled, “The Vocation and Mission of the Family in the Church and Contemporary World ” on the 10th of December 2014, for wide consultation in the Deaneries and Parishes of each Archdiocese.

We at the Diocesan Family Service Centre (DFSC) have simplified the same for adaptation at the Diocesan and Parish level.

Our Archbishop expressed his desire that the questionnaire, in a simplified form, be sent to the various Parishes for their responses so that the answers could give us the present scenario, resulting in a fruitful pastoral letter for the forthcoming pastoral year 2015-16, dedicated to the families, on the occasion of the Synod.

This letter comes to you with a request to discuss the enclosed matter and answer the questionnaire with the members/families of your Parish community, so that we receive the answers latest by the 28th February 2015 via email (dfscgoa@gmail.com).

You are requested to call for a meeting of lay faithful, specially spousal couples (preferably at least two from each somudai) and parish associations, to discuss the enclosed questionnaire so that not only we at the DFSC but even yourselves, at Parish level, could draw out a plan for family catechesis in your Parish.

We have also uploaded the ‘Preparatory document’ on our website (www.familyservicecentregoa.org), as well as facebook page (Dfsc,Goa) for responses. You are requested to make the same known to the lay faithful of your Parish by giving wide publicity of the same through Sunday announcements and publication in your Parish Bulletin so that all the lay faithful are made aware of the same.

We would welcome any suggestions from your side to make this consultation process a success.
